The documents should be submitted at the nearest Immigration Department in the place of residence of your Malaysian Spouse which would be mentioned in his/her Identity Card (IC).
What are the requirements to apply for a new Long Term Social Visit Pass?
The Long-Term Social Visit Pass may be granted to a foreigner intending to stay in Malaysia for a period of not less than six months. Any extensions of the period of stay would be given based on the eligibility and fulfilment of certain conditions imposed by the Immigration Department.
Foreign husbands/wives to Malaysians can be given the Social Visit Pass for a period up to 5 years on condition that they comply with all the requirements.
Holders of the Long-Term Social Visit Pass are allowed to engage in any form of paid employment or in any business or professional occupation by applying for a Work Endorsement.

What are the criteria to be a ‘sponsor’ for a Long-Term Social Visit Pass application?
- The sponsor has to earn more than RM2000 per month and is paying tax in Malaysia
- If the sponsor is unemployed or does not earn RM2000 per month, a family member residing in the same state can become the sponsor. That family member has to be present when submitting the application.
- Provide proof of income i.e EPF and/or salary slips from respective company.
What is the approval time for a Long-Term Social Visit Pass application?
It may take 3 to 5 months depending on the respective State Immigration Departments.
How do I apply for an ‘endorsement to work’?
- Confirmation letter from your company and a RM10 stamp duty for the Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (“LHDN”) [or]
- Company Registration (Companies Commission of Malaysia, Business License from government agencies and income tax statement
- Permission to work letter from your spouse
- Copy of recent passport and visa

- The Immigration officer will contact the company for verification of the applicant’s position in the company

The endorsement to work will expire with your Long-Term Social Visit Pass. You can renew your endorsement for work together with your Long-Term Social Visit Pass.
